V-Pleats Installation

Origami can easily be overlooked but requires a large space and proper lighting to showcase effectively. It's challenging to stand out at events with dense displays like the COLLECT.
This piece is from fung+bedford studio can be see that it uses the accordion pleats vertically and V-shape pleats horizontally, and use a metal pivot to connect each pleat from top to bottom making it 3D. The main material is Tyvek paper.
Tyvek is a brand of synthetic material made by DuPont. It is not actually paper; rather, it is a type of nonwoven material made from high-density polyethylene fibers. Tyvek is known for its durability, strength, and resistance to moisture, chemicals, and tearing. It is commonly used in a variety of applications including protective clothing (such as coveralls and lab coats), envelopes, tags, wristbands, building insulation, packaging, and more.

So I scanned DuPont's brands and found some amazing products Made of Tyvek.

Among those products I found that the Diffusion Choir deeply moved me. Four hundred kinetic elements form a hanging volume in the sunlit atrium, describing the motions of an invisible flock of birds soaring throughout the space. Elements are made from a durable high-density Tyvek which can expand and contract via a silent stepper motor controlled by custom circuit boards. The elements open and close individually, choreographed by custom software running real-time mathematical flocking algorithms. Invisible birds exit and join space over the span of each hour, periodically coalescing into a single flock.
